National MSME Awards

If you own a small business in Nigeria, the Federal Government wants to reward you — and the window is open right now.

Applications for the National MSME Awards opened on 7th April 2026, and if you’ve been sleeping on this, you need to wake up today. This is one of the few government programmes that actually puts something tangible in the hands of Nigerian entrepreneurs — not promises, not committees — real prizes.

What Exactly Is the National MSME Award?

The National MSME Awards is an annual, week-long activity tailored to honour outstanding indigenous MSMEs. The week-long activity marks the International MSME Week, featuring an Expanded National MSME Clinic, a business exhibition, a plenary session, a gala, and an award night, all aimed at encouraging MSMEs across the country.

The awards began in August 2018, and so far there have been multiple award ceremonies with over 40 verifiable winners.

And the prizes? In past years, winners in different categories have gone home with cash prizes, cars, and local and international media attention. The reward has grown from an initial 1-star prize — a car in 2018 for the MSME of the Year winner — to 10 cars across all categories. That’s not small at all.

Who Can Apply for the National MSME Awards?

Any Nigerian small business owner with an active CAC registration and a Tax Identification Number (TIN) can apply — as long as you haven’t won before. Prior award winners are not eligible for re-application, and multiple submissions are not allowed.

What Categories Are Available?

There are nine award categories: Agriculture, Wellness, Beauty & Cosmetics, Creative Industry, Fashion & Style, Leather Works, Furniture & Woodworks, Manufacturing, Information Technology, and a special category for People Living With Disabilities.

Whether you make furniture in Ogun State, grow crops in Benue, code tech solutions in Lagos, or run a fashion brand anywhere in Nigeria — there is a category for you.

What Do You Need to Apply?

The application is online. Here’s what to prepare:

You’ll need your full name, MSME business name, business location, sex, date of birth (minimum age is 18), a clear two-minute business overview video, your active CAC registration, and your Tax Identification Number. Additional certificates such as Tax Clearance, NAFDAC, SMEDAN, SON, NEPC, or ITF Certification are also accepted as supporting documents.

The two-minute video is key — this is your pitch to the panel, so make it count. Show your product, your workspace, your story, and what makes your business stand out.

Why You Should Not Wait

The MSME Clinics serve as a bridge between the Federal Government, State Government, and small businesses across each state. This award is backed by major stakeholders including Zenith Bank, Access Bank, Bank of Industry, NITDA, NAFDAC, SMEDAN, NIRSAL, and more. Winning doesn’t just come with a car or cash — it comes with the kind of visibility and credibility that money can’t easily buy.

Thousands of business owners across Nigeria are eligible, but most won’t apply simply because they didn’t know. Now you know.

Apply now at msmeclinics.gov.ng/award-apply before the window closes.
